Indian Navy Fireman Vacancy 2023
As per the official recruitment notification, the Indian Navy is inviting applications for the post of Fire Engine Driver and Fireman classified as the General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial, Non-Industrial to be filled up by absorption from the persons serving in similar, equivalent or higher grades in lower formations of the defence services.

Indian Navy Fireman Recruitment 2023 Eligibility Criteria
The Indian Navy Fireman Recruitment 2023 Notification states the following criteria for the Fire Engine Driver and Fireman posts –
For the Fire Engine Driver Post (Erstwhile Fire Engine Driver Grade-II)
Essential Qualifications –
- Must have passed matriculation or its equivalent from a recognised board.
- At least 3 Years of experience of driving heavy vehicles
- Possess a valid driving license
- Physically fit and able to perform strenuous duties
- Height without shoes – 165 cm (2.5 cm height concession for ST candidates)
- Chest (Un-expanded) – 81.5 cm
- Chest (on-expansion) – 85 cm
- Minimum weight – 50 Kg
Endurance Test –
- Carrying a man (Fireman lift of 63.5 kgs to a distance of 183 meters within 96 seconds)
- Clearing 2.7 meters wide ditch landing on both feet (long jump).
- Climbing 03 meters vertical rope using hands and feet.
Desirable Qualifications –
- Should be familiar with the maintenance and operation of various types of fire appliances.
- Should have experience having worked in a regular Civil/Defence Fire Brigade as a Fireman Grade-I or Senior Fireman.
- The candidates should have passed the general firefighting course of the Defence Institute of Fire Research, Ministry Of Defence, New Delhi or the Sub-Officers Course from National Fire Service College, Nagpur or any other similar recognised course.
For the Fireman Post (Erstwhile Fireman Grade-II)
